Biography

Originally from the Netherlands, I moved with my husband and our three sons to Brisbane, Australia, in March 2007.
I made my first patchwork quilt in July 2006, when I was expecting our third son. It was a very simple quilt, consisting only of squares, but I was hooked. I made a number of pieced quilts for my children and for the babies in our family. Along the way I discovered art quilts and tried many different techniques and materials. My quilts have been juried into shows and exhibitions and published in books and magazines.
I still love traditional quilts and enjoy coming up with new ways to present a classic design. My favourite is the Lone Star (also called Star of Bethlehem or Texas Star).
You can find some examples of my quilts in the Gallery. My eldest son, who is an elite gymnast, is an important source of inspiration. I am also inspired by nature, optical illusions, architecture and graphic design. I adore colour, but also love black and white.
After working as Editor of Down Under Quilts for three years, I now publish my own quilting and sewing patterns under the Blue Jacaranda label. They are available in my Etsy shop.
In December 2016 we moved from Brisbane to Sydney's Northern Beaches. A year later we moved back to Queensland, where we now live on the Gold Coast.
